Saying YES to mess!
From Shilo’s laptop on Wednesday…
I am generally a tidy, neat and organized person. Not fanatically so, but I am an advocate of the idea that our outter world is a reflection of our inner world. Therefore I do appreciate peace in my space, both inside and out.
Being in the midst of getting rid of our stuff – we haven’t even had our first open house yet!- and already my outer world is quite a state! There is stuff all up the stairs on each step, laundry both clean and to-be-washed is piling up in unusual places, stacks of paper are accumulating in odd corners waiting to be scanned into the computer… the list goes on and on.
It is a HUGE practice to take (many) deep breaths and to grow my capacity for messy spaces. To be “okay” in this transition. It has an end. It will not last forever despite the fact that it feels that way!
And, knowing that there is a lot to do – more than James and I can do ourselves before Saturday – I have reached out for help.
Wellness TIP: Don’t do it alone ~ Ask for help!
There are amazing friends in my life who bless me in so many ways. They are there for me in those crazy moments, and several of those earth angels are coming over on Friday to assist me in tidying and organizing and marking the stuff that is not for sale etc. No heavy lifting or cleaning, but lots of fussing and creating an inviting space despite the upheaval!
God Bless Girlfriends!
And, there is also the knowing that things will get crazy, messy and generally disorderly again. And again. And again. Between now and June, I have the opportunity to practice patience longer and say, “yes to the mess!” It means that we are moving in the direction of our dreams! One baby step at a time.
