The Baton Game

Daven & Shilo

This fall has already been a time of big leaps for me. We drove back down to Mexico for the winter, which was effortless and delightful. Once here, I joined a professional Wirter’s Group and also went to one of our 123 Marketing Mastermind weekends – not for James’ business, but rather for my own project of writing and publishing a non-fiction book about our journey of discovery and adventure! These days, it is not about writing the book. There are 1,000’s of books released every single day on Amazon. It’s about where you want the book to take you. And I am very thankful for Daven and Beejal of 123 Employee for helping me formulate a plan, and for my master coach Stephanie for helping me to put that plan into action.

I am in the creative writing process now and having fun – most of the time! – with the many stories, ideas, concepts and outlines that are developing. My book is still mostly in my head, but I was given an opportunity to play this “Baton Game” and I jumped at it. I see this as an opportunity to tell the Universe that this is what I am up to and to invite in support, seen and unseen, into the writing process. And to share with you, my beloved friends and family, this next step on my path as well!

I’m scared though. It feels kinda big, but with lots of deep breaths and amazing support from all of the wonderful people in my life, things are moving forward.

Baby steps. One day at a time! So send me lots of love and enjoy the “teaser” below… 🙂

 The Baton Game

I’ve been passed The Baton by L. Leander so in an attempt to keep the spirit of Indie Authors alive, here’s my contribution!

What is the working title of your book?

3 Pairs of Shoes ~  Live your Dream Lifestyle

Where did the idea come from for this book?

My husband James and I went through a powerful 3-year process of letting go of everything to follow our dream of living in a tropical destination.

We shed almost everything – all of our worldly possessions – including the house, outdoor stuff, furniture, art, knick nacks, keepsakes, books, photo albums and more. We each had 2 suitcases – that’s it! I had to get rid of clothing, accessories, make-up, lotions and potions and more! In the end, all I could take with me was 3 pairs of shoes!

What genre does your book fall under?

Personal Growth, travel, change – it may fall under addition genres as well; I am enjoying being in the Great Mystery of creation right now!

How long did it take to write the first draft?

Ask me again in a couple of months! I am writing it now as we speak! My intention though is to have the manuscript complete by the end of April 2013.

What actors would you use for a movie rendition of your book?

I love, love, love Julia Roberts! So of course I would cast her as me! {grin}  I am not sure who I would cast as James – someone who’s strong, integral, purposeful, optimistic, patient and kind, a romantic, a great father and husband, always up for an adventure. That’s a tough order to fill in Hollywood these days. Any suggestions?

What is a one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Through Letting Go YOU can create Freedom & Abundance, and Live the Life of your Dreams!

Will it be self-published or represented by an agency?

Currently, I am thinking I will self-publish the book and I am open to creative solutions. We’ll see what presents as I get closer to the finish line.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I have had the idea of writing a book rolling around in the back of my mind for a long, long time.

Last fall, as part of our 123 Employee New Wealth And Freedom Marketing Mastermind program,  I attended a seminar put on by the Speaking Empire and the keynote speaker was a lovely woman named Ann McIndoo. Ann is an author herself and specializes in helping authors get their manuscript out of their heads and into their hands. She gave me a fun medallion that says “Writer” on it which I look at that every day for inspiration. Around that same time, I began blogging regularly about our travels, learning’s, adventures and more.

More recently, my extraordinary 123 master coach, Stephanie Graziano, encouraged me to take my time this fall/winter while I am in Mexico to write. To give myself permission to be in the creative process. To allow the flow to move me. To transform an idea and a blog into a manuscript. To fulfill a long-time dream of publishing a book.

And so it began!

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I have never read more than a few pages of “The 4 Hour Workweek” but when I talk to people about what I am writing, I often hear people mention it must be something like that book. However my book is written with a feminine writing voice and my own personal spin on the experience of down-sizing, simplifying and letting go so you can create more abundance, freedom and possibility in your life… and how others can take what we did and create the change they want in their own lives.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

It’s fun, uplifting, an easy read. I am a positive, playful person and that comes through in my writing. Be prepared to have fun reading it when the time comes…!

Pass the Baton…

This has been fun and I will now pass the baton to Angela Jackson. She’s a talented writer and I think you will find her blogs insightful. She also winter’s in Mazatlan! So, keep on reading and enjoy!
